Modern parenting seems to be in trouble and in deep crisis when it comes to managing the boundaries between the generations. Are you right now working ferociously to be your child’s best friend? Do you and your children share the same taste in clothes, shoes and even, pop stars? Have you examined the deeper motives behind why you do what you do to your children? Are you and your spouse experiencing separation anxiety when it comes to letting your children go on? Do you know that there are parents out here that can't bear separating from their adult children? Why won’t we let our children go too far away from us to college? Is it because we don’t really have anything between us and our spouse and we don’t wish to be abandoned at home with them. Would our adult children be lost without us? Shouldn’t they have the opportunity to risk in order to grow as we did? Are you an overprotective parent that has truly arrested your adult son or daughter’s development? Is separation good and essential for both parents and their children? Shouldn’t Adult children become independent decision-makers who learn from their own mistakes and failures at some point? Since we cannot promise to live forever, don’t we have to learn to let our children go? Are those who don't encourage their sons and daughters to be independent guilty of psychological abuse?
